Early Days in France

The majority of the 17th Battalion arrived in France on 8th November.  The journey through France and introduction to the Western Front is found here – Arrival and travel through France

In the first six months of 1916, the Battalion spent time in the Maricourt Defences near the river Somme.

Apart from periods in the billets of Suzanne, Arthur Bell took part in Specialist Training as a Bomber
