The Second Day of Christmas – 2nd Ypres

On the 1st Day of July – our family returned to Montauban

On the 2nd Battle of Ypres – we searched for a cousin

I identified a second Arthur Bell in our family, who was killed at Ypres in May 1915.  By strange coincidence my close friend’s great uncle was killed in the same trench within the same week.  I visited the battlefield near Wieltje after the Somme visit and tried to fathom where they fell and the location of their graves.  The Menin Gate remains their fitting commemoration.  Here’s the Battlefield Sleuth eMagazine – Two Men in the 2nd Battle of Ypres. King’s Own Lancasters and Hampshire Regiment
