As a gesture of thanks to Canada, here’s an off-piste gallery of images of our visit to Canadian National Vimy Memorial. It was refreshing to look at an area and element of the conflict away from my usual ‘field’. This was especially rewarding as a result of the presentation of the site, memorial and visitor centre; but principally because of the smart, informative and enthusiastic staff.
Yes, what a place we visited here on the way up to Calais. Seeing the trenches & craters, a real eye opener. What a history tour we have had and thanks to all our lads.
Hi Dianne,
It’s sometimes difficult to grasp the Western front and the Canadians seem to be good at respectively showing us something closer to reality. I assume you also went to Beaumont Hamel. Otherwise a definite tip for your next visit.
